I’m Jeremy Sluyters, Director of Business and Collaboration Systems at JMP Engineering Inc. I am a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and a certified Project Management Professional (PMP). I live in London, Ontario with my wife and 2 young kids. I am into anything 2.0 that will help a business do better business and want to educate people on Social KM and engage everyone around me using social collaborative tools.
I am a mechanical engineer by education (don’t hold that against me), and have been working with a professional engineering firm for the last 10 years as a Designer, Programmer, Project Manager, Process Leader, and Knowledge Manager. Over the last 5 years I have driven the definition of standards and business processes, championed continuous improvement initiatives, led internal Project Management initiatives, implemented a companywide ERP system, as well as launched a SharePoint portal and knowledge system. My investigation into business and collaboration systems was a turning point in my career.
The goal of this blog is twofold:
- Be my own personal knowledge base for all things related to Social KM and Web 2.0
- Be a resource site for people interested in 2.0 and not sure where to start
Excellent introduction Jeremy. I can tell you are passionate about the topic and living what you believe. Our world is becoming more and more connected and we need easy, efficient and effective ways to share our ideas, get ideas and collaborate continuously. Just do it! For people who have not embraced the global connectivity movement check out LinkedIn – 280 first degree connections, leads to 40,000 second degree connections which leads to 2.8 million!!! third degree connections. That is profound.
